| The purpose of our research is to improve the efficacy of existing mosquito control methods and to develop new techniques which will allow us to reduce operational costs. Our goal is for the Anastasia Mosquito Control District to become a leader in Florida mosquito control. AMCD has 1 full time employee and 1 seasonal employee whose primary function is research. Facilities include a mosquito insectary that houses 2-3 mosquito species for research and education. Also, there are laboratory facilities to perform insecticide bioassays and run other tests. Field research is combined with laboratory research, in cooperation with the USDA laboratory and other districts to run both beneficial and applicable projects. | |
